H
hede
Definition
Heath, an open landscape of low shrubs, heather and grasses on poor, sandy soil. Heathland is a traditional feature of parts of Jutland and often sits behind coastal dunes. Heaths are kept open by grazing or management, and many are protected, with rules about paths, dogs and fires. On a map a hede shows in a lighter colour than forest.
