B
bjerg
Definition
Hill or mountain. In Denmark a bjerg is only a modest rise, because the highest natural point, Møllehøj, reaches 170.86 m according to Statistics Denmark. Himmelbjerget in the Silkeborg lake district, whose name means roughly sky hill, is a well-known example that visitors climb for the view rather than the effort. Treat -bjerg on a map as a landmark or viewpoint, not as a signal of steep terrain. See also: høj, hede, and the guide Cycling in Denmark: Routes, Terrain and Practical Tips.
