What is a fjord in Denmark?

The answer

A Danish fjord is a shallow, winding inlet or bay with low banks, not a steep, deep valley like those in Norway. Roskilde Fjord on Zealand and the Limfjord in North Jutland are well-known examples. They are valuable for sailing, birdwatching and quiet shoreline walks, and they often shelter small harbour towns. The Limfjord is so large that it cuts across northern Jutland, which is why Vendsyssel-Thy counts as an island. On a map, a long thin blue shape cutting into land is usually a fjord.
