Is English widely spoken?

The answer

Yes, English is widely understood in Denmark, especially in cities, hotels, restaurants and tourist areas, and you can travel comfortably without any Danish. In small villages and on some islands, older residents may be less fluent, but staff at transport and accommodation providers usually manage well. A few Danish words, such as tak for thank you and hej for hello, are still appreciated and make interactions friendlier. Road signs and station announcements are mainly in Danish, so keep a journey planner or offline map handy.
