How can I swim safely at the coast?
The answer
Swim only where it is allowed, follow warning flags and local signs, and take extra care on the North Sea coast, where currents can be strong and the water rough. Calm-looking water at spits like Grenen or in tidal areas can still be dangerous. Choose beaches with lifeguards or clear guidance when possible, keep children close, and check conditions each day, since wind and tide can change quickly. The sea is usually refreshing rather than warm, even in summer.
