Question hub
How reliable are ferries?
The answer
Ferries are an established part of Danish transport and generally run to schedule, but wind, ice and seasonal changes can affect them. Smaller island services may reduce frequency outside summer, and popular summer crossings can fill, so reserve where reservation is possible. Check the operator's website or app on the morning you travel, and leave a generous buffer before any onward connection, flight or booking. For routes to islands such as Bornholm, treat the crossing as part of the trip, not as a quick hop.
