Late spring to early autumn is best for beaches, cycling and islands, while winter suits city breaks and indoor activities. Statistics Denmark's 2012 yearbook puts average temperatures at about 0 °C in January and 16 °C in August, but daylight changes even more than temperature: summer evenings stay bright and winter days are short and often grey. Many seasonal ferries and campsites run only in summer, so check opening periods for the dates you choose.
