O
odde
Definition
A spit or point of land projecting into the sea. Two familiar examples are Grenen, the sandy tip near Skagen where two seas meet, and Sjællands Odde in north-west Zealand, which gives its name to the start of national cycle Route 7 (Sj. Odde to Rødby, 231 km, according to the Danish Road Directorate). Spits change shape with wind and water, so stay on marked paths and heed warnings about currents.
